Remote car starter system
« on: October 21, 2013, 09:13:18 PM »
Its starting to get cold again, so im starting to look for a remote car starter asap.

I see bestbuy has a lifetime warranty on installation, but it looks like their "Geek Squad" who installs it can be a hit or miss. Anyone have any experience with them?

Or what local reliable people can do it in Brooklyn or Queens?

Any info or deals appreciated.

My car is already equipped for remote start through Hyundai blue link but it costs $99/year for a package which includes remote start. Any way to leverage that which is already in place for my own remote start?

Thanks, Gave them a call.

As with most cars now days with a chip in the key (newer than 2000 aprox.), they require an extra piece of equipment called a Bypass Module, which bypasses the security feature so the remote can start the car. Most kits or deals you see online (including best buy) do NOT include such a piece, which most places charge an extra $100+ for.

They quoted a total of $225 including installation and the bypass model for a single button remote that turns on/off the engine.

Bestbuy has a few nice looking systems constantly on sale in the $200 range which include basic installation, but when i called for an actual quote they said to add $180 for the advanced installation and the bypass module.

Found this expired groupon deal at Exotic Auto Boutique and contacted the shop in Brooklyn. They answered the phone straight away and were very nice & knowledgeable (unlike best buy) and answered all my questions, and have been installing these things ever since they were invented. They do accept CC and the installation has a lifetime warranty. He charges $75 for a bypass module, so he said he can do a 4 button remote, which includes start/stop engine and lock/unlock doors for total $225.

I think the 3rd option is the best. Anyone have any more info?

Actually having it installed by backitupcameras in lakewood 7327652225 . I'm also getting a 3000 ft remote not the 800 feet. It's better for going through walls .
He's a friend of mine and did a lot of research into this company

Just out of curiosity, why would you not have BB install?

Hey maybe someone here can help me. I’m looking for the cheapest way to make my car accessible from my phone. I already have the regular auto start. Company is ready remote but I think their mother company is Viper.
