I was just wondering if he had some reason in his head and if something happened in his life  or if it was just mad in general.  Not even connecting it to elections.

Yes and no. You see enough of shteinman=kook around and a lack of respect for a gadol that, while, yes this guy was probably crazy, it comes from undertones of the "mob" who are  more charedi than the gedolim

Unfortunately, it's becoming a problem of relgious folks hurting other folks for what they think is l'shem shamayim.
A few years back, there were actual fights in a group called Satmer in NY when the followers of 2 rabbanim started quarelling.
