taskeng is some sort of task manager i think
ask toolbar gets installed with java (if you're not paying attention), so dont worry about that (although its good to get rid of)

glad to hear it wasnt a virus

BTW i installed avast Internet security, my pc froze every so often, i uninstalled a few components till it stopped freezing
it might be better off to use regular avast the way it is if it performs better

Everything should be unchecked except for File Shield.

I never understood this thread. Almost every anti virus is free. The only difference is sending in a rebate. The greater functionality of some like Kaspersky over the free ones is well worth that hassle.

Woooah quite a mix of ideas there.
Uninstall AVG. Replace with Kaspersky. Continue using uBlock extension in browser.

i meant in general, dont worry about a firewall
between having a router, and an antivirus, unless you're a big deal, dont worry about a firewall

In the meantime, I finally found my Windows firewall and had turned it on.

Windows Firewall should always be on, unless your antivirus comes with some sort of firewall, and if it does it usually shuts off windows firewall by itself.
Do not have more then one antivirus running at a time. Therefore, avg and kaspersky should not run at the same time.
K9 is fine with any of the above.
