OnePass or some other program
« on: August 16, 2010, 10:05:08 PM »
I've searched through all the posts and topics and cannot seem to find a definitive answer as to what as the best airline miles program to join, although people seem to like OnePass, any suggestions?

It all depends.
Which countries do you fly between/in the most?
Which countries would you want to redeem the miles in/to?
Is status a very important requirement? (Will you fly enough to use it if you get it?)

Its not really a straightforward answer...

I would say fly CO to TLV and earn Onepass (Star Alliance) miles.  You can also fly USAir from PHL and earn Dividend (Star Alliance) miles.

If flying from EWR isn't an option than it's between El Al and earning AA (OneWorld) miles and Delta and earning Skypesos (Skyteam).
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

but if bosoxfan is based in BOS then AA would have alot more non-stops if thats what they want BOS is a sort of AA mini Hub at least for Domestic travel

I'm originally from Boston, now in Jersey so EWR is perfect for me.

Yup, CO sounds like the way to go then.
P.S. If you have an Israeli address on file for your Onepass account and hit Gold status you'll get a free Presidents Club membership...

Dan you do know that CO is 1 of the most expensive Carriers to TLV dont you? the chance of an EQM being less then .10 cpm is not very likely and more like closer to .15

thats why Ive been telling those that ask me to use their Miles for a free tkt if they can or go to Orbitz and see who has the cheapest fare out of EWR,JFK & PHL and to contact an Agent to see if they have any Group fares. Its been a couple of yrs since I last purchased a CO tkt to TLV and I fly there at least 3 times a yr

 * for the heck of it I just compared what I booked on UA.com with CO.com offerrings :

8/31 PHL-SEA on UA for UA flights via SFO UA wants $356 on CO for the same UA flights its $525 (CO codeshare)

then I looked at all CO flights via IAH UA wants $395 while CO wants $448 (thats a UA codeshare )

Does it have to be my primary address on the account or can I list a relatives address  as a secondary?

Primary , but they dont have to know you dont live there. The other year CO found a number of people doing this and CXed their PC cards. So they do do sweeps every so often, not hard to tell when the computer shows they are flying to TLV r/t starting in the US. But raelly nothing to lose by trying

What do you mean "nothing to lose"? The guy can lose all his miles, the reason he's thinking of joining CO in the 1st place.

I know several people from FT that were Busted and they lost a grand total of 0 miles . Maybe cause they were all Plats. besides as long as they are using a real address even if not theirs, theres not much CO will do except as I posted CX the PC card and ask you to use your US address even if you own an apt over there , since it seems you are US based due to your flying pattern

But as with everything else these days as more and more people pull schtick they are checking things more closely, just for the record I never had anything but a US address for any of my program accts

Right, another thing is that Airline's Corporate Security Depts. are like the IRS. If they look into you even once, they won't let you off the hook for life...

thats with DL and AA, DL for both selling miles and playing with say Hidden citys and back-to-backs etc , AA with selling their Miles , the others arent so tight fisted Yet!

BTW with DL their Rev Unit is not their Security Unit and its their Rev Unit that you need to look out for mainly
