Can someone post all information necessary to know to be able to cancel a credit card without hurting their credit score?

It's your lucky day. It's all already posted right here on the forums. It may take some digging but the info is all here.

I'll give you a quick tip though - when cancelling your card move over the credit without losing it to get another card approved.

Also, you score shouldn't drop that much even if you DO close a card.

Welcome.

Look at this post (that is sticky-ed to the top of the forums page) http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=23990.0 to find threads that already exist on almost every topic. On the right side, you'll see a few posts not from the forum but from DansDeals.com that discuss opening/closing cards. There you'll find that when you close a card, at the least you should get your credit line moved to the new card, if you can't pull off keeping some of it (and not closing the card) while still getting the new card.
