Internet and phone service in Monsey
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:47:14 PM »
My promotion from Verizon Fios expires today and I need a new service. They want to go up to $90 a month. What's the cheapest option? I can do an internet only or internet plus phone. Optimum is offering $60 a month for a bundle but I'm getting mixed reviews and if there's a cheaper option I'd like to research that.

Also, I was told by exchangetel that once Fios is installed, I can't switch to them because FIOS uses exclusive wiring...something about them being a monopoly. Any advice?

It doesn't get any better than $60 / month, and Optimum's price is all inclusive vs. Verizon's which adds taxes and fees.

I think you got it backwards, optimum charges taxes, and verizon its all included.
Palm5 says: Uhhhh what's blackberry?

philbenjoe says: A handheld celluar device. What's your question

That's incorrect. I spoke to both, Verizon charges extra fees, Optimum doesn't.

What would I do without your really helpful advice? I never would have thought of that!

P.S. Yes, I did call both places. I was asking for additional ideas. Thank you for your help.

The difference is that with fios- I haven't had a single outage in the 2 years I've been with them while I've been hearing that people are unsatisfied with Optimum. I can't be without a phone so I really need reliable service.
