He said it definitely won't happen in 2014.
"Southwest has made its "bags fly free" policy a pillar of its advertising campaigns. And on an earnings conference call Thursday, Chief Executive Gary Kelly said the carrier has no plans to charge for bags at least through next year, in part because he believes its policy of two free checked bags per passenger brings the airline business."

And here I am trying to justify why I just spent $99 on the CC, and you just come and ruin it.  :P

Why does that ruin it?  It justifies your decision, no?

Translation:

Southwest WILL be charging for baggage on January 1, 2015. Count on it.

I'm not so sure about that.

And I hope you're right but:

Quote
the carrier has no plans to charge for bags at least through next year

is corporate whetting of the public appetite for the sour taste. Happens all day, everywhere.

So when, in 2015, they drop the bomb, people won't vomit, they'll just scrunch up their faces.

I got A52 once when I checked in the second I was able to. I found it highly unlikely that there are 50 other people sitting at their computer to check in at exactly 24 hours before the flight.

I think they also block A1-A15 to charge people more at the gate and also the A-1 and early bird tickets get to check in earlier that 24 hours before.

I think thats what it is. IIRC for $12 you get early board check-in
