I wouldn't be so certain of that. They were supposed to cruise into WC spot, but they seem to be fighting for it.
what does that have to do with what i said?

Those statistics are meaningless. Take this year for example. If the Cubs make it to the WS they will be favorites but not have home field. If they win 4-2 what does that tell you about home field advantage?

Exactly.
In the past 13 years there's been a 7 game WS just twice, and the home team won just once.
Hilariously overrated.

I don't disagree with any of that. Just sayin.

So I guess we're not arguing?
I'm not denying that there's a slight advantage but I feel it's statistically insignificant and rare that it can't be attributed to playoff success.

Here is the point I am making. Say the favorite for game seven is the away team and they win 4-3. Does that mean their was no home advantage?

If we're talking 2011, that was a pretty awesome series.

so if this year the cubs face the mets and manage to touch their pitching (yes im looking at you kris bryant-that home run late in game 4 meant nothing), it wouldnt mean anything to you to see them go on and maybe win a WS bc last year, when the mets were at full strength, they made a mockery of the cubs bats?
If the Cubs beat the Nationals in a playoff series and Murphy is injured, they can also say that that's why they lost. If the Cubs lose a playoff series (translate, don't win the WS) they can say it's cause Schwarber is injured. See it never ends. What about the Indians who this year are certainly the unluckiest team?
JTZ already said that last year has nothing to do with this year. Here are a few reasons... Improved Russel, Baez, and Bryant. Zobrist. Heyward. Better pitching, better bullpen, more experience for team as a whole - including Hendricks and Arrieta. Point is that the Cubs overachieved last year to get to NLCS, and Mets are nowhere close to as strong as they were last year. And they only have a 1/3 chance to get to the Cubs this year. Sorry

There's a period before Heyward.
Russel, Baez and Bryant were all on the team last year and are all waaay better this year offensively and defensively. Heyward wasn't even on the team that lost to the Mets last year. To quote CM AH'
They need some pure hitters. HR hitters just don't cut it when playoffs come around.
So they got Heyward and Zobrist...

which is why if the mets have the WC spot locked up going into sunday, and are only playing for homefield in the WC game, noah should be pushed back to the WC game
Too bad he had to go up against MadBum. Maybe next year can have the Mets vs Cubs who's better in a playoff series argument...

True Cub fans don't care. You want to be the best then you have to beat the best. If you are afraid to face their best then you don't deserve to win.
Speaking of the best, the Giants are prob. the hardest team to face in the playoffs as they haven't lost a playoff series in just about forever. You asked for it and...

...I sure did. The same way I asked for it for the Hawks.  ;)
Hopefully the experience last year has helped them a great deal. Look at the bright side. They are not facing the Mets.  :)

Cubs really gotta start hitting if they wanna see the WS. Or they can just blame a goat....or Bartman.

Rizzo was fine yesterday and looks to break out of it. Russell looks lost though. Heyward too.
They (team led by Maddon) won't blame anything, but the media can sure have a field day.
My take is that being one game plus one inning away from being eliminated last round, so now there's way more breathing room. Too bad Shwarber got injured in game three.

No doubt the cubs would be a very scary team to face in the WS.

It is kind of sad how little respect CLE gets. LA or the Cubs would most likely be the favorite over them. All they did was win 7 out of 8, go figure.

Will either be Francona who managed the 04 Red Sox vs. Theo the GM or vs. Roberts who stole the base that started the climbing of of a 0-3 hole.
