FWD: @Cut4: Heads up baserunning by the @Brewers or a brain fart by the @Cubs?

You be the judge. https://t.co/bH2OcvlJ3U

Sure wasn't the baserunning so that leaves...

How was Cain's play not heads up base running? The opportunity was given by several Cubs' mistakes, but you're not gonna find many baserunners smart enough to capitalize on that situation.

Which one is Cain? The guy going from 2nd to 3rd made a bonehead running mistake and was only safe because of the Cubs worse mistake. The other runner you assume knew no one was covering first. I assumed he went to second because he thought the other runner was going to be out and got lucky no one covered first. Am I missing something?

Cain is obviously the batter. He made the right move going to 2nd, as that's SOP when another runner is in a run down (better to end up with a man on 2nd than on 1st obviously). But then he has the situational awareness to recognize that no one is covering 1st (right around the 50 second mark in the clip he clearly looks back at 1st, then starts motioning to Yelich to come all the way back to 2nd while retreating to 1st himself), allowing him to turn a man on 2nd for his team to a man on 1st and 2nd. Like I said, the opportunity was given by the Cub's poor defense, but not to recognize the excellent heads up play by Cain is plain silly. I can guarantee you this is not the first time a team neglected to cover 1st in this situation, but I challenge you to find one of those where a baserunner capitalized like this.

Love that steal of second/third.
THIS was heads up base running.
