Good Credit Vs. no Credit

Lately i've realized something very interesting about my credit
i have a very good credit history my score is around 740, and i have missed one payment in 6 years, i have applied for a million cards and at one point 4 years ago amex closed eight of my card, but otherwise only good credit and not used high percentage of credit.
My wife on the other hand, has never even applied for a credit card, yet twice this year when we applied for insurance and when looking into a new apartement, we were told it would be cheaper if we get it on my wifes name.
i dont understand why its like that
