Has anyone flown hawaiian? Is it good?

We are scheduled to fly them SYD-HNL at end of July.  They fly nice updated planes with personal TVs (although it would appear that they don't offer any special meals).  Much nicer than Jetstar.

Also they charge for baggage to HI but not to australia. What would a stopover be considered?

Agent told me that the baggage goes according to the longest leg of the trip, so the whole trip would be considered international. so should be 2 free bags

AA told me that since we are stopping in HNL for more than 24 hours, the HNL-Mainland portion is considered domestic for baggage purposes.

If you leave on Tuesday (for example) :
Daven mincha shortly after takeoff. Maariv when it gets dark, shachris for Wednesday when it gets light and mincha before it get some dark.
It's a little more complicated when you leave LA and get in 2 days later.

Sound like you are all confused.
12:40 pm
If you are departing 12:40pm and landing 7:20 pm, you will be travelling mostly in daylight.
You are travelling with the sun, and the only reason you are landing the next "day" is due to the international dateline.
As you are going during the Australian winter, it will become dark a short while before you land.
Therefore, the only thing you will need to daven on the plane is Mincha - Shacharis you will daven that morning in HI before departure, and Maariv you can daven in Aussie after landing.

On the way back, you will be flying against the sun, and therefore davening at a quicker pace, and also extra for the "repeat" day.
If you give me your return departure and arrival times and destination (HI or CA), I can be more specific.

Australia is generally a very expensive country exept when it comes to deomestic flights.

Its all anout the IKUR Pricebeat for Australian Domestic Filghts

Jetstar has a promotion that if you find any other airline with a cheaper flight than theirs they will beat it by 10 percent! No strings attached

You dont just get a cheaper rate but you save on all the Booking fees etc...

sometimes jetstar can be 200+$ one way and with a Tiger Airlines pricematch You can end up Paying 30 $

.... Ive done it many times and saved myself Hundereds of Dollars.

the only catch is that this promotion is only available up till 48 hours before the flight departure time.

find the chepeast flight then call jetstar and say you want to price beat, they will do the rest for you

With Sydney-Melbourne flights often really cheap, not always the best deal @ 4.5k+$14.36

Though for when they are expensive and for other routes, theyre great.

But its worth mentioning that With Avios you are flying Qantas which allows 1 free Bag of 20 KG
A Value of $20 on jetstar.

But its worth using avios on weekends when prices can hit up to $250 One way, And Availability fo Avios is very good in Australias Even on weekends as Qantas has flights Every Hour.

but with a good pricebeat day you can get a round trip without luggage for $50

Ironiclly It can be cheaper to fly Domestic in Australia then to go to the airport and back.

Keep in mind that Tiger is no frills, think of Spirit.
Quite common for delays, and there is only a flight every couple of hours so it is not like you could get reseated on another flight shortly afterwards. Unlike Virgin or Qantas which have flights every half-hour or hour.
And Tiger love charging you for every stupid thing.

Also, if you dare come even one second after check-in closes 45 minutes prior to departure, they will not let you on that flight. Instead, they will bump you to a flight several hours later, and charge you for it too. Even if you already checked in online.

I once got stuck in traffic on the way to the airport, and arrived late. I told the staff that my flight was imminent, but they told me I have to get on line and hope for the best. So, I get on line, with two people ahead of me, and half a minute later they announced that check in has closed for my flight, being that it was precisely 45 minutes before the flight. When I got to the desk, the agent told me she cannot check me in to the flight, even though she knew good and well that I had been waiting on line. She offered me the lowest fare on the next flight a couple of hours later. However, I didn't have the time to wait, so I ended up buying a last minute ticket with Virgin, who obviously had no problem selling me a ticket for a flight less than 20 minutes later.

In summary, don't use Tiger unless you have lots of time to spare in case of delays, fully understand all the extra charges for baggage etc, are NOT travelling with family, or there is any chance that you might be even slightly delayed getting to the airport.

They call it "Terrible Tiger" for a reason.

Not worth saving a few dollars to "fly" Tiger.

You'll end up getting screwed in the long run
