Sheraton Port Douglas told me $185 AUD. So I guess it's cheaper to book through them.

Maybe try calling 1-2 cab places first to see if they can beat the Sheraton price.

Also, maybe they have UBER And you can see what the price would be.

Thanks!

I'm still debating if I should take a cab or rent a car. Any thoughts? (driving on the left side isn't an issue, I've done it in the past)

Have you ever done it before? It's really not too bad.

My point being that even on the right side of the road I'd have my issues with D93 being my driver.

I've had him drive me before. It's not too bad. Case in point: I'm alive to tell you about it.  ;)

If being "alive" is a case for him driving me, that ain't good enough. Lol.

Why?
Probably, as you mentioned, so he could stop and take pictures. Although assuming you don't need a car there at all (which I can't assume), I imagine a taxi wouldn't mind stopping along the way for a few minutes so you can take pictures. It'd be a lot harder if you were a professional photographer, taking 10+ minutes to compose shots and change lenses, etc, but I don't think it'd add too much to the cost of the fare.
