If you're going to Katzy's then you're right there anyway.
+1. We didn't spend time there other than at a nice park overlooking the beach to get pictues.

To add:

Specifically: Pepper Steak Pies and rotisserie chicken at Katzys and Mexican Pizza at the Pizza shop!

I'll write that down. Much appreciated.

Coming to Sydney in a few days for a week
Only staying one night at the Hyatt.

All the TR's I read seem a bit dated :(

They might be old, but all the info is still accurate.

Please do! Thanks.

Just got back from 2 weeks all over Australia. You are in for an amazing experience if you aren't there already. Featherdale Wildlife Park was really nice and fun. It's a little bit of a commute from Sydney, but basically on your way if you're going to the Blue Mountains. The Park is a lot cheaper than the zoo (which I didn't go to) and you can actually get close and pet a lot of the animals (kangaroos, wallabys, koalas). I highly recommend it

So happy I just saw this!
We are going to blue mountains for a night and this is perfect for on the way. (I also found 20 percent off for now)
We were going to do the zoo in darling harbour but decided not to when we got there (cheaper tickets were sold out online, and the reviews weren't too great)

Anyone have experience with staying at the PH SYD using someone else's Hyatt CC signup nights, with you added on as the "second guest" - do they allow it, or do they act like HKG-style jackasses, and say you can't check in unless the account holder shows up? Even better... what about staying FOUR nights - two from one Hyatt CC and two from another Hyatt CC, neither of which is yours?

FWIW I stayed at the HR TST in HKG using someone else's free CC night for one night and my free night for the other, adding my name to their room (their room was even the first night). I didn't have any issues.

While I truly appreciate your input, my experience has shown that the level of tolerance toward allowing a guest to check in using someone else's CC signup night varies greatly from one property to the next, even within the same country/city. So I'm asking if anyone has any input specifically regarding the PH SYD.

Anyone with general know-how on what you can bring into Australia? Coming from Israel so most items will be in Hebrew...
-Packaged dry goods?
-Non-refridgerated milk
-Frozen meat?
-Frozen home-cooked meals?
-Hopefully retorted meals with meat/chicken from the US is ok?

I know I can buy things there but I'd like to avoid that to save time if possible

Milk and home-cooked meat can be a problem. USDA approved meat may be ok. Packaged dry goods are ok most of the time, not sure if they'll allow it without English words on the package. In general I think you'll save yourself a lot of hassle if you just buy all the stuff there. True it will take more time, but you will potentially run into problems depending on what you're trying to bring in, which will then cost you more money and time if you have to go repurchase the items.

Very true. Looks like I'll be bring the bare minimum and buying mostly in Sydney - some of the main supermarkets and Katzys all deliver so I guess I'll just put in some orders in advance if I want to save the time of going there.

Are you able to get a microwave at the PH SYD? Fridge? Any experience if they charge to heat meals?

2 nights PH MEL + 2 nights PH SYD vs 0 nights PH MEL + 4 nights PH SYD
If the 2 nights in MEL could work, but if you're asking whether to spend 2 days in SYD and 2 in MEL (not the GOR/Grampians) or 4 days in SYD then I'd say 4 in SYD unless you'd prefer MEL for shabbos.

MEL would happen. But I might just stay with family unless the consensus is that the PH MEL is worth experiencing.

I didn't stay there, but we loved our shabbos in St. Kilda East with friends!

The PH Melbourne is nice, but in no way is it in the same league as the PH Sydney. Basically, I'd say don't spend time in MEL over SYD because of the PH. If you want to spend time in MEL aside from staying in a nice hotel, that's obviously a different story.
