Try to get some Hyatt or Sapphire points!

That sounds like a good idea.  I guess there's a separate forum for that.  Staying at a Park Hyatt sounds nice; do they have something similar to Cash and Points though?

im going to be in sydney from thursday night until monday morning (4 nights)
some questions
1.whats the bottom line with shabbos? is the only option to buy food beforehand and eat in my hotel room?
eli you mentioned you worked something out with a local. care to share?

2. anyone have local contact info, as i would like to engage the services of a jewish babysitter

3. hotelwise, does it make sense to do 2 nights in dt and 2 nights in the bondi area (shabbos) or all nights in either?

4. dan do you mind forwarding me a copy of your correspondence with cutoms regarding shelf stable kosher meals?

thanks

We bought food from Glicks and Katzy's for shabbos and stayed 4 nights at the fantastic and stunning PH SYD.  They gave us kosher breakfasts, it turned out that it wasn't cholov yisroel, but they bought new breakfasts for us that were parve.

I'm sure you can contact any of the chabad houses and they can help you with accommodations for shabbos.

Email me for the exchange about long-life meals.

Is the Opera Room the basic room there?

Katzy's?
Iirc correctly you rated the place 7.5 somewhere....all I hear from the locals is that its overpriced, overplayed and will leave you with heartburn...

I was actually at glicks for breakfast, not bad.

Bear in mind it was after eating rubbish for 3 weeks.
But did you really not like their ribs??
And everything in AU is overpriced.

Tried katzy's tonight. Overall it was not too bad, the ribs were OK but NY does it better. Did Pita Mix last night, service was great - they replaced the falafel plate when we showed them the hair.
The schwarma lafa was mostly vegetables with about 4 pieces of chicken thrown in for flavor.

Nothing in AU is great foodwise and everything is overpriced.  But Katzy's is the best of the bunch.
And those ribs after weeks in hostels and other strange places in Tasmania and the Grampians was just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah, have to agree that after 2 months of mostly raw veggies and eggs - it was a welcome relief.
Best I have had here, was breakfast at glicks the other day.

Next time I recommend buying some lamb chops, scotch fillet (what stray'ns call 'Boneless ribe eye') Aussie sausages (the best sausages period) and a slab of Aussie beer, and head out to a nice park like centennial park or a bay for an Aussie barbie!

To really have an aussie experience I would say go camping by the hawksberry river, fish for marlin off the rocks in Jervis bay or check out the royal agricultural show... Etc + much more - though those you would need more time for some of those..

IMHO The Aussie lifestyle and habitat is yet to beaten by anyone.
OK yes I'm Australian and proud lol...

Sitting at katzys as we speak. Leaving oz in a few hours.  Must say that the sculptures on the sea was the highlight of my visit. I strongly recommend it to everyone especially fellow art aficionados

Sculpture by the Sea is quite incredible if you are lucky enough to catch it.

Katzys are best known for their pies, which you will either love or find a bit odd.

Walk down the road from Katzys and buy yourself some lamb
You wont regret it

Doe anyone have experience with Lewis packaged meals?
