I recently noticed awards pricing dynamically for different dates. I was hoping it wasnít what I suspected, and sure enough...
For the near future itís actually good, because many properties went down due to low demand. But will probably be bad for the long run.

Good timing also. It probably went under the radar due to Covid-19

Why?

Why?
Because you wonít be able to get very good redemptions in high season if theyíre not controlled be charts. The main benefit of points is that theyíre not bound by the revenue cost. Same like airline miles.

For now I'm loving the dynamic pricing, I say for now!
It beats Marriott for now.
Always praying for delayed baggage.

Any of the ihg properties currently open in Israel?  Has anyone been there recently?  Are they using dynamic pricing?

From my limited research, dynamic pricing seems to be only in the US for now.

I noticed today that some point stays now say including taxes and some say excluding taxes in the same city.  How can that be?  Is this new?  Specifically I saw this in tel aviv and also other cities in Europe?  This was on the ihg website.  Any information or feedback?

When did IHG start charging taxes for points only stays?

As I stated earlier,  it says that taxes are excluded only at some hotels even in the same city or country.  Look at tel aviv and also cyprus.  It is not across the board, which doesn't make sense.  It would also make a big difference between a 2 e. City tax in a European city compared to 17 % vat in Israel for Israeli citizens.  Anyone know whatís going on.

Iíve seen that in award bookings too. If the tax is a flat rate, like city taxes in Europe, they will charge you. When it comes to percentage based taxes, they canít charge anything because thereís no cash price. Itís probably a generic note that comes up on all reservations.
Same with free car rentals in the US. You pay the flat fee state taxes, but not sales tax.
From my experience, I wasnít charged VAT in Israel on IHG reward bookings. (CP Haifa)

The strange part is that hotels in same city e.g. tel aviv have one hotel that says taxes included and another that says taxes excluded on point stays.  I also saw this in malta.

Spoke to a points guru, he told me this:
It shows this sometimes, yes.
If it is a flat fee, you pay it.
If it is a %, you don't pay (% of zero is zero)
If it is a resort fee, you pay it unless you are Royal Ambassador.
