BoA A/A
« on: November 01, 2013, 02:52:35 PM »
Not sure how prevalent this is and if it merits a thread unto its own, but i'm posting this as an FYI and maybe to also get some help from the pros here.

I get a call from BoA asking about some recent large purchases i made. At the beginning i thought it was about the freeze they put in my account (subsequently lifted after a call) so i answered freely. Next thing i know he starts asking about a third-party company check i used to pay my bill, and lets me know that he's shutting my account because of it. B"h my checking account was no effected.

Just giving you guys a heads up about paying BoA CCs with third-party checks and that, yes, BoA too does A/As/FRs (this came with a call and a demand for an explanation, so that would make it a hybrid).

Any help would be appreciated (it's sort of an older card and i also don't want the 'closed by issuer' on my report). TIA!

1. Call back, go to a branch.   Explain how someone owed you money, and you did not realize anything was wrong paying a bill like that.
2. You paid by mail?

1. The rep i spoke to already realized that i was buying for that company (as i said, i thought the call was about something else and i also never heard of a BoA A/A so i had my guard down). He did give me his number and extension to call him back but i need something strong to persuade him. When i pressed him as to what was wrong with what i did, he would't give anymore info, so i don't even know which direction to take this. General question: is there anything wrong per se with paying from a third party? If yes, why do most CCs accept it? Anyone has any insight?

2. Yes.

They don't like when you pay your CC bill via BB bill pay?

Good to know

Tell you how bad it is. I had a check for less than ten bucks made out to my daughter deposited in my checking account. I was given a not so nice warning.

Im talking about a check made out to the bank just from a third-party company. I did ask the rep to let me of with a warning but he wouldn't budge. I'm still wondering what the official banking policy is (Chase A/A and Amex FR aside).

For this issue check out the Chase A/A thread.
I've seen various opinions about that. What's the consensus?

I know what you are talking about. I will make this real simple for everyone. Don’t use any third party checks for deposits or paying off your CC’s.
