I've seen various opinions about that. What's the consensus?
Dan doesn't really like when this is being discussed in the forums..... However as for what I remember, once you call in the Bank and the can't pull up your account (they are not seeing it in the system) you make your way to  the credit Bureau, several people reported success.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Tell you how bad it is. I had a check for less than ten bucks made out to my daughter deposited in my checking account. I was given a not so nice warning.
Only big banks like BOA and Chase make issues with things like that. Sovereign/Santander let's you do what you want. At least here in Lakewood, NJ.
(I know Santander is a big bank. But Sovereign is pretty small in the US).

Not sure about BOA but Chase does not like it.
In other words the only way chase likes and approves is paying through our bank account?

Dan, is paying chase credit cards with cash a problem?

Is bill payment from spouse's BB account to my CC (& vice versa) considered 3rd party? I have been doing this for several months with Chase, BofA and Amex. Is it unsafe? TIA

Was it at a teller or ATM without the envelope.  I am assuming it was not the latter, because AFAIK, no human looks at the check unless there is a problem.

It was at the drive up but ATM deposits do get looked at.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Americard cash back (signed up two years ago for the $400 bonus). I don't really mind the fact that it's closed, just don't want it hurting my credit (still not sure if it will) and they confiscated over $70 cashback.

I am not sure that is true with the new ATMs that do not require an envelope.  I assume they installed those ATMs to minimize the need for human intervention.
