Congrats on the car and great job getting a deal, but where in the post did you discuss buying vs leasing?
“When we bought our car, the cost of leasing it would have been around $616 per month. The actual cost of the car including tax and warranty was $21,000. We drove it without issues for 111 months. To keep things simple by ignoring the time value of money, lease price inflation, lease buyout, and many other factors, that means the car has been essentially free for the past 77 months. You can quibble with that math of course as it is oversimplified, but buying that car was a no-brainer for us.”

Still has nothing to do with buying vs leasing.

There are two very different things being conflated here.

1)Getting a car every 3 years vs 10 years -As with most things in life, it obviously costs more to buy stuff more often.

2) Buying vs leasing - this depends on many factors, but many times it makes more sense to lease a new car then buy and sell after 3 years. The key is to look at the TCO.

Electric minivans don't exist. The only hybrids are Sienna or Pacifica. All Sienna's since 2021 are hybrid, prior to 2021 they didn't even offer it as an option.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

1 option lol.

Toyota Sienna for hybrid and Chrysler Pacifica. KIA Carnival hybrid likely coming next model year.

No electric minivans yet. We'll see which manufacturer will be first, likely KIA or Chrysler.

I'd be shocked if it's Chrysler. They're way behind in the EV game. Kia is a good contender. If it's going to be a good car it needs to be built on a new platform, building an EV on an ICE platform has never worked.

Dan did one heck of a job getting the dealership to negotiate with him  via email

I think I am batting literally close to 0 when asking for email communications only with dealerships.  They all insist I come down in person for best pricing and deals and some tell me its company policy ::)

anybody with success and/or tips or advice?

I've had the same thing. Telling me that due to demand they're only giving OTD pricing in person at the showroom. Telling them I can't waste my time to come down to the showroom just to hear a price that may or may not work for me usually gets them to discuss it via email

KIA already has the EV9 platform coming soon which should be suitable for minivans, too.

The Pacifica has a plug in hybrid.

I think it’s one of the very few vehicles that both qualified for the EV tax credit and weighs over 6000lb GVWR, which is useful if you can use it under a business.

Expand your radius.

meaning more sheer numbers and therefore possible suitors or dealerships that know you are far away are more likely to offer Out the door prices via email?

Is it possible to purchase a car outright and then turn around and finance it? Out of state dealer told me they will only sell without financing to out of state - even if I finance elsewhere since they would still need to fill out the paperwork for it

I am pretty sure you can finance from them without dealer involvement
