Boy! I was coming to this thread to see if I should buy or lease my next car and after reading some of this stuff I'm more confused then before I looked at it! My Camry's 3 years is up next month. They want ~20,000 for the buyout (wow). Then there's the scratches. Then there's switching lights and sirens every time I do this. I don't know what to do. And also, I always tend to get lucky - sorry. no deals at this time!

Infinity $250 is less than I pay on any of my cars, but it's only for 2 years.

That's what I paid for a brand new leather Altima.

But now you understand how they can charge so little for the lease payments and still make money.

Maybe a bike with a little motor on it and two baskets with a masterlock!

Huh?
I compared it with leasing and I'd have to have a head of cabbage to have taken the lease on that deal.

Who do they think will buy a 2011 (granted it's loaded) Camry for 20,000? I don't get this business.

Yup, both are great cars.
2.5 years later and I'm very happy.  Of course with just 11K miles on it it's practically brand new.  Very happy I didn't flush $10,000 down the toilet.

Most people don't know how to negotiate for a new car.

Wheelstolease

you understand that you can have "zero" down and still have to pay 1st month/taxes/bank fee/registration fees etc upon getting the car?
Always use an Amex, you'll thank me one day.

So I'm getting the idea that you think purchasing is much better. I'm going to start looking at that, though payments are usually more than when you lease and more years - but the car is yours at the end.

I'm not going to say there are no exceptions, but for most people in most cases, yes.

Negotiate on a purchase? I guess I'm one of those that doesn't know how. So, how?
