Yes it is. My Rosh Yeshiva, Morreinu V'rabeinu Harav Avi Weiss Shlita recommended this so I can connect to Yahduut in a moer spiritual sense. I guess I will try the one in Nanuet #DaatTorah

Got it. Thanks.

One last q: What is good price on a 29 gallon tank? What's considered overpaying?

For a tank only (no stand or equipment) I'd say $1.50-1.75/gal, used or on sale $1/gal.

Well he is one chashuv rebbe.
The times I've seen people feel a need to give such titles in a setting like this one where he is really irrelevant to the conversation is generally for one of these reasons.
1. It is being used to falsely bolster an argument by saying if you argue with me you are arguing with him as well-not that here
2. Someone is trying to taunt and bother people by being "in your face" with a controversial figure or trying to elicit argument about him
3. Someone isn't so confident about the figure himself and is trying to convince himself of the figure's stature.

@Yehuda

Any decision on the fish tank yet, or the Rebbitzin wanted a puppie? LOL

I still haven't bought anything yet. I don't know enough yet to know what a good deal is.

If anyone is knowledgeable, please chime in.

Decided I'm going to hold off for now. I didn't want fish. I wanted a cool thing to have and cool in my mind meant cool colored/looking fish. From guys' opinions here, it seems like those fish are hard to take care of. Maybe one day.

I'm not half the expert as the others, but I've had some tetras and danios in a twelve gallon and they are lasting fine with the stock filter that came as part of a black Friday special in petco. The fish are from Petco and Pet Smart.

@somethingfishy you mentioned that you had a custom built tank does that mean you put the tank together or only the filter? I'm thinking about building a canister fuilter and I'm looking for some advice.

I didn't want to create a new topic.

I recently bought a fish tank. I plan to set it up and get it up and running on Tuesday when it arrives. I plan to let it sit for 10 days or so with no animals to get the water just right. Its a 20 gallon tank, its 24x18x13. I plan to start out with freshwater. and then graduate at a later time (like a few years) to saltwater. I am just looking for some advice. I plan to start with some tetras and slowly add in some others. I would love to add a betta but it is too risky. I'm very open to suggestions and comments. I am a beginner and could use some advice like what filters to buy and which lighting to buy and which live plants, rocks and bottoms feeders to buy and which controls and monitoring systems to get.

Thank you all in advance

I've been keeping FW and SW for almost 40 years. My suggestion is Google "fish tank forum" and start reading, then, after reading, start posting questions. Take a few weeks at least before buying equipment for your 20g.

If you can find a local fish store that actually has knowledgeable staff, you're lucky. Most don't know sh!+

So I did a ton of research a year ago when I started my tank . When I get to a desktop I'll share what I can

You will find many places online saying to start with hardy fish and let the tank cycle with them in it, but that seems kind of mean. What I did was pick up a bottle of Dr. Tim's One and Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria and a bottle of Ammonium Chloride Solution for Fishless Cycling. This essentially gets the nitrogen cycle going before fish are added, and you don't need to add any organic matter to let it decay. You should also get a Water test kit. This one is supposed to be one of the best, much better than the strips.
FYI - I bought 2 bottles of One & Only from amazon and both were expired. You are better off going to a local fish store and checking if they have it (if you live in NY, I went to Manhattan aquariums)
I found a lot of good info at http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/
