I have a pond/waterfall outside.
Put in 10 cent goldfish years ago and they're still going strong.

My friend has a nice saltwater tank in Lakewood, if you live here I'm sure he won't mind talking to you about it and give you some advice.
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals

I do when I put in stuff to kill the algae in the summer.  Otherwise they seem to find algae and other gunk to eat and thrive on.
Problem is when a stray cat comes try to eat the fish.

You built this feature or bought a standard insert? How deep is the water? Is it child proof?

That is really cool. Always wanted one of those. It doesn't freeze over in winter? Is that because of the pump for the waterfall?

IF anyone is looking for a fish tank, there is a sale today on petco.com .Code summer10 gives 10 off and upto 35 percent off.

http://www.petco.com/N_24_4294951278/Fish-Tanks-and-Aquariums.aspx?AID=10412456&PID=552179&SID=VTlhU1Jnb0JDamNBQUJtUHRJTUFBQUJE&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.petco.com%2FN_24_4294951278%2FFish-Tanks-and-Aquariums.aspx&cm_mmc=CJ-_-CID-_-552179-_-10412456
I believe it usually comes out cheaper to buy  in walmart even with fancy sale in petco. But don't buy fish in walmart they tend to be very unhealthy.

Where'd you buy a tank from? How did you decide what size to get?

Petco. There was a 50 percent sale last week . I got a 5 gallon because I think it's a good beginners tank, and didn't want to spend so much until a see that I am actually going to invest time into it, and the finish aren't going to be dying left and right ;)

IIRC, I bought this one, http://www.petco.com/product/117228/Fluval-Edge-Aquarium-Kit-in-Black.aspx.

Unless there is a sale from Petco, you should probably buy from amazon.

Thanks for the info. Did you do research on the best size/quality of the tank or just went based on what you thought would be a good size and at a price you could afford?
