Transfer points vs booking with Amex
« on: November 03, 2013, 05:35:30 PM »
We are looking to go from NYC to Orlando in February. Booking using Avios is not an option, as they don't have any available flights on the days we need to go.

I can transfer 75,000 point to trueblue which would be enough to for 3 tickets, but I also have to pay the airline transfer excise fee which is another 9,000 points, costing a total of 84,000 points. However, if I book directly through Amex, it will only cost 24,000 points for flight, for a total of 72,000 points.

Am I missing something? Why would it be worth it to transfer the points into trueblue?

Sell the points to a broker and buy the tickets with cash.
