Use my Hilton gold status

I have a reservation that my son in law made for us at a Hilton for a night on his mileage. Our name was added. I want to know if I can get gold privileges because I'm a gold member even though he isn't. Not that I know yet what those gold privileges are. Anyone know if I can do that? Thanks
