AAA no fee Visa Gift Cards for members

AAA is advertising in this month's AAA world that it is waiving its $4.95 fee for Visa Gift Cards for November and December for AAA members. Can only be purchased at AAA stores. I emailed them and was told you can pay by credit card

Went to AAA and got 6 cards. 4 on southwest for my 50k and 2 on other card. Should have skipped the other 2. Asked for license and ss. Sounded from sailsperson if only 2k wouldn't be a problem. Interstingly, card folder says refund check is free. Not sure if that is when expired of even if ask for it. calle d# on back and got pins for 2 cards then I went to walmart. I goofed and said wanted to load bb w/ gift cards. Said you can't. I then went to register at other end and did 2 with no problem!
BTW AAA has cc that offers 3 points for AAA purchases. Didn't want to ask if gift cards count . I applied but have to wait aproval

3 points at AAA store travel and insurance purchased thru them. 2 pnts on gas grocery and drug 1pnt everything else. either redeem for cash -- 5k points = $50; AAA vouche-- 5k points =$60. They say $60 voucher worth $75 at hertz. Not sure what else can be used for. Or, AAA auto repair vouchers 5k points= $55. Personally, I'm not a traveller so cash is good for me. But if you earn 3 points buying fee free gift cards (only Nov and Dec) it sounds like a great deal

I bought another 4 cards today, this time totalling 1995 to avoid ss# and license. Met minimums for barclay arrival and Amex blue preferred. (Had to go to grocey and spend $5 on food.) Was very quick and easy. I proceeded to WM and loaded 1k without a hitch with cashier.

It's BofA, and has pretty much the same spending categories as the BofA rewards.

Do they ask you to see your membership ID?
Think they would realize my membership is expired?

They asked to see mine. I don't think they examined it too closely, but you ever know they might.

So all you had to show them was that membership ID?
No Gov. ID (under $2k)?  If not I can use s/o else's...

No ID under 2k. But if you do 2k, they want id, ss, and it takes forever.

They always swipe AAA card at mine, no matter the amount. No travel bonus on CSP or travel category on Barclays Arrival.

When I called them to ask about what payment methods they accept, they said that (among other methods) credit cards are accepted but they would put it through as a cash advance. Any reports from people who bought them? What bank's card did you pay with and were you charged the cash advance fee?

No cash advance fee on any purchase, multiple banks.

That said, I went over some limit and am now banned from buying these.  Oh well.
