Comparison of Photo Books
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:45:22 AM »
My first ever photo book was from the recent (and still current) Picaboo promo. How do these photo books compare with the likes of Snapfish and Shutterfly? I got the leather one which is not leather at all (not even "man made").

Between all companies which ones make the best books?

while at it, if someone knows of a good online photo album picasa style, where of importance is a mass upload facility, privacy, and if resizing, to a decent quality, and preferably free, please let me know.

I never get the leather covers.  Always get the ones that you can put the photo on the front.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

picaboo is great because you download a program, so it works much quicker.

I made a bunch of copies of a Photo Book (for grandparents etc.) from shutterfly for $8 each. The colors came out a little dark, but overall I was very very happy with the quality.

All the pages in my Picaboo book came out very nice except for one which came out reddish and grainy. I called CS and they agreed to reprint the book (though I first had to send them a scan and digital photo of the bad page). I ordered the new book with a custom cover and should be getting it today.

I would like to have a way of sharing just with the people I intend to, not facebook style.

Yes. You can either send an email to your friends directly from Snapfish or share with a link through your own email to your friend. But any of your friends can then send your link to anyone else they want.

That's stupid I always thought that once someone signs in using that link he "claims" that link.

Definitely not. I send one link to a group of 20 people and they can all use the same link, so anyone else can too.
