Good on you man.

Recommendations for sleep training methods?
Yeah, any sleep training methods? We're only at 7 hour a night at 8 weeks old.

I'd consider that very good.

Some babies don't sleep that long until 6 months or longer.

A baby that's six month old and not sleeping 7 hours is no one's fault but the parents (unless there is a real problem)

What can parents do to prevent the baby from sleeping that long? What do I want to avoid doing?

Jumping at the moment the baby names a noise.
Unwillingness to sleep train.
Feedings every time the baby makes a peep

Was the only way to go with two (and with one, it can be done even earlier as they tend to weigh more)! We found the method in http://www.amazon.com/Twelve-Hours-Sleep-Weeks-Step/dp/0525949593 to be spot on and our kids (now almost three) continue to be great sleepers poo poo poo.

For a recent article in the WSJ on sleep training as young as two months:

EY F on the way home. MEL-AUH-JFK. But I'm not sure what exactly they do... They're not gonna take care of my kid for 14 hours while I sleep... I dont think.
I'll find out in few days. My son is 2.5 though.

From what I've read in limited reviews, they will definitely hold a baby while parents have a meal or briefly rest, but their availability will really vary based on how many other children are on the plane. Also, it seems that they spend most, if not all, of their time in Y, so may be hard to flag them down in F.

While this is a little extreme, an idea of what can go wrong when traveling with infant

As I said, it's a little (a lot?) extreme. When we went to NY for yuntif our baby didn't want to sleep in the crib. We had to improvise (he slept a bunch in his car seat), but i assure you that did not entail holding him the whole night.
