Definitely SR MLE.  The SR/EK/EY combo is tough to give up.  Agree that weather is always hit or miss.  It's not like you're going in the dead of monsoon season...

(We went in August and had 6 days of incredible weather...)
Ah, just when I am 60-40 OGG, I get a post like this, and I'm back to 60-40 MLE.

The flights and hotels are making this 65-35 MLE...

Not stupid. I always search by individual day. I guess I should search for varying lengths?
Most def. The Andaz is one of to most notoriously sneaky and they frequently have minimum length of stay.

Tried. Didn't seem to make a diff. Thanks for suggestion, though.

Dusting off the old thread.

Currently have SR MLE booked for mid November with perfectly timed flights. EK J there and EY Apt home.

But, since I also have reservations at SR MLE in Jan and Feb (best weather for MLE) I'm considering cancelling my November stay and doing Maui (OGG) instead in DL J.

But... Andaz and Hyatt OGG appear to be booked.

Give up EY Apt (which is a rare find these days) for more certain weather in Jan/Feb, but uncertain OGG hotels?

WWYD?
Can I assume its without any kids?
Being that weather is the only thing MLE had going for it I would stick with certainty.

No kid.

Certainty with weather? Meaning to go to MLE in Jan/Feb?

Or certainty with flights and hotels? Meaning go to MLE in now?

Maldives normally always has great weather in Jan/Feb. Hotel managers want people to come during low season, so dont believe everything they say
November is monsoon turnover and it can get bad....
Dont forget the ocean doesnt look as nice with clouds... needs sunshine
If blue sky is important, then go in Jan/Feb. If the nicer plane is important go in Nov
I would kill myself, if I would go November have bad weather and knew I gave up perfect weather for a nicer seat

Not something worth killing yourself over IMHO. But if you decide to off yourself, make sure its at the St. Regis so at least you'll have a minyan at the Levaya

I don't normally "like" comments, but that deserved it.

Planning more than a quick overnight in DOH or can't spend it in Al Safwa?

I'm going to have POM meals with me. I don't want to have the hassle of (i) short checking the meals to DOH, (ii) rechecking in to access Al Safwa, (iii) only to determine IF they'll stick in their freezer.

That, and my wife would rather spend the day in DOH in a hotel room with a pool instead of a lounge, no matter how nice.

I agree that spending the day at a proper hotel is way better than Al Safwa. If you were only planning on spending the night (7-8 hours) then I'd say Al Safwa is more convenient than leaving the airport. That's why we spend the night in Al Safwa but the day in the Hyatt Capital Gate in AUH.

Right. I arrive at 6 am, and am leaving 2 am the following morning. Not gonna spend all that time in a lounge, even if we do a city tour. (And all of that is not including the hassle with POM meals.)
