I'll be that guy...  1.

IAD is probably a PITA for you, but the EY 789 is pretty nice, and F.  Also, you don't specify how long in AUH, but I much prefer a stop in the UAE over DOH.

Thanks for the input, guys. We'll stick with what we have and book Grand Executive Suite at GH DOH.

Latest edition of WWYD:

Option 1: IAD-AUH-MLE in EY 787 F/J (overnight in AUH, arrive MLE 3 PM) (pro: EY F 787, con: "late" arrival in MLE)

Option 2: JFK-DOH-MLE in QR A350 J/J (spend from 7am-2am in DOH, arrive MLE 9AM) (pro: get into MLE earlier, get to tour new city, con: long layover, but we'd get hotel)

Option 3: JFK-DOH-AUH-MLE in QR A350 + Al Safwa (overnight in AUH, arrive MLE 3 PM) (pro: Al Safwa, tour new city, con: "late" arrival in MLE)

Keep in mind, I'll have a cooler full of POM meals...

WWYD?

I'm assuming your leaving from  NY, how would the routing be from NY > IAD? AA does not have non stop service from NY > IAD and going via a connection to IAD could be risky in Jan Feb due to weather flight cancelations.

So, MLE didn't work out, so I just held this.

Outbound:

JFK-AUH in A380 Apt
AUH-MLE in A330 First (they change from a 2-cabin without F to a 3-cabin with F in the busy winter months)

Return:

MLE-HKG in CX J
HKG-JFK in CX F

Hotels:

Park Hyatt AUH in Suite for 1 night
St. Regis MLE in OWB for 5 nights

It's worth only spending 1 night at the PH and paying for another (cash) flight to the St. Regis?

Will update when I know cost.

Not sure what you're asking, but I arrive in AUH at 12:00 PM and the flight to MLE leaves AUH the following morning, so I need somewhere to sleep.

Hotels:

Park Hyatt AUH in Suite for 1 night
St. Regis MLE in OWB for 5 nights

Why PH in AUH over either SR?  Cost?

Guaranteed suite. Like PHs generally. Service is repeatedly sub par at SR, especially when compared to the PH.

That's fair.  The SR Abu Dhabi is the best value of any hotel I've ever stayed at.  12k.

It's easily in the top 5 nicest hotels I've stayed at, in terms of facilities (absolutely gorgeous, direct beach access, butler obviously, room size, etc.), accommodations (really early check-in and really late check-out), and just overall felt like 12k was a steal.

If it's not significantly cheaper than the PH I wouldn't worry about it.  All AUH hotels are stunning.

Upgrades and service at the ST are reportedly difficult and poor, respectively.  Did you get upgraded? How did you find the service?

Also, for us, it's a quick 20 hour stay.
