Standard procedure for more then 1K, internal use only.
It starts out as internal use then along the chain a decision is made if it needs to be reported to the government.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Didnt know that. He only spent 3K so I doubt that would be the case.

Old thread.  Feeling newly dumb (and a bit anxious).

I just bid on a rental car with Priceline.  I wanted to try out a price, so I put in a fictitious name and used an empty GC.  BUT THE GC WASN'T EMPTY!!!  So I now have a good priced rental car reserved not in my name!  I hope I can use it.

Change your name?
The DMV wont allow name changes without a lot of paperwork that I can't produce.
Priceline allows name changes? how do I do it?
Do you know they wont let me use it without it being in my name?

I meant legally. As a joke of course..

Call up priceline, sometimes it is possible to cancel the RSVP, try Google for excuses. I have a friend who has cancelled them before.

I meant legally. As a joke of course..  I knew.  Sarcastic/ joke font needed.  Also too nervous.

After calling twice.  I asked to have a friend added because I, the reservation holder, would not be able to pick it up.  Refused both times.  Getting panicky.  Hoping Alamo would let it pass when I hit their counter.  If not, I would lose the money and have to priceline again on my phone.
I pulled up my reservation and chatted.  This time, after I tried to add myself as a friend, she said I would need to be there with a cc in my name for the security deposit.  So I told her >>> that Patty Patch is a name I use on some of my things, but that she has no ID or cc's in her name. <<<
Hold.  Then she came back saying she would make a one time exception and cancel the reservation, pending approval by alamo.  and she would send confirmation to my email.  I asked her to send it instead to XXX@gmail. instead, since I don't monitor the pattypage email too often.  She said ok!

Why don't you call Alamo and add yourself through them?

The information on the reservation as it was, was all wrong. Name, email, even cc- it was a GC not my united card. Had Priceline not cancelled it or added me, I was going to try Alamo.  Cancelling it was a great solution for me.  Now I know what price works and can make the reservation properly.

This morning I went gift card shopping, but was in a rush, and a little lazy, so I didn't add any item(s) to my purchase. A little later today my card was declined in a store. When I called them up, the agent on the phone pulled up my most recent charge and flat out asked "I see it was for XX.XX... Was that a gift card?"   :-[

What's the big deal? Other than your card being declined.

Not a big deal for me, but I think it's somewhat telling that she immediately thought of gift cards.

You think the banks are dumb? They know the game.

hence the importance of adding a soda or something to a gift card purchase, no matter how rushed or lazy I'm feeling

Wouldn't it be easier to  load a bit less than $500 to the gift card?

Besides for the fact that it would lesson the cents/mile ratio, it's too complicated to keep track of which cards have what amounts until I get around to loading them to BB.

You are also lessening the cents/mile ratio by buying a drink at a pharmacy.

Touché. Although it wasn't a pharmacy :)
Unfortunately, CVS doesn't have much value for me anymore.
