Personally I have no idea what he's doing, but I'd guess that he's buying them at a very good price, and/or getting lots of CC points for them somehow.

there are places that will pay you to order them for them. I think they then send them overseas.

I booked and subsequently cancelled a aa flight ten days ago assuming It'll be refunded. only to find out that since they let You hold it for 24 hours they aren't required to issue a refund.
Is there anything I can do to get my money back?
