I find them to be way cheaper then e/o else, I don't know why more people don't use them.
They are also covering replacement cost.

True...
Well hopefully I wont have to file a claim but if I do, I will deff post my experience.

I just checked for $30,000 in coverage with $500 deductible in Monsey it was $110.
Jewelery was of course extra,
They car insurance though was about $400 more then what I am currently paying with Geico..

Had 30k replacement cost for about $100 /year with Ameriprise (through Costco). Adding jewelry was about $30 more.
888-404-5365

Thanks for info!!

Just spoke to them.
25k coverage
5k worth of jewelry (plus 1k that is covered from the 25k)
250 deductible

140/year.

specifically asked if the jewelry would be covered even if something happens not in the home. Was assured that it is covered. Make sure you check this.

standered policy there, if you schedule additional coverage, it covers for the street lost or stolen. (I let my wife know that...) ;)

Btw make sure you give your Costco #, and if you don't have ask how much cheaper it would be.

Bottom line ended up with Travelers.

Some points to keep in mind.

Ask if your property is covered when not in the apartment.
.
Ask about jewelry. Travelers will cover 1500 PER ITEM. Most insurances that I quoted told me that it will cover 1k for all jewelry. (I also added 5k extra for the ring)

Replacement VS depreciation. Travelers will replace a broken item with a brand new one. Some places will check the time you bought it and then only pay depreciation value.

Happy shopping.  :D

Travelers only gave me the value after depreciation. I think that may be based on the policy you get. I don't remember them giving me 2 options, though.

Interesting. The agent didnt give me options but rather just told me that they replace full value. Hmmm

Its called replacement value V actual cash value. VERY important to make sure you know which you have.

from this link it appears they do https://www.geico.com/information/aboutinsurance/renters/insights/endorsements/
Thanks! I put together a quote and it didn't specify. I'm assuming that it's for cash value. Gotta go call them now...
