what ever happened to paying in stores using your phone with bluetooth or something? a simple app where you add all your cards?

Ha so true. Whenever my wife buys something I have to bite my tongue so hard to keep from asking where she got it from and how much she paid!

so the question is if in the future one could have some type of algorithm, programmed in, to figure out which card is the best for which transaction, similiar to one of dans "which card is best to spend on" posts.
i walk up to the gas station, swipe my card, and coin figures out the cpm, and bonuses, etc, and chooses the correct card for the transaction.

personally one thing stopping me from getting coin, is the lack of the chip built in.

it will not be introduced with full acceptance around the world at the start.

the other thing is the wait.. i'm not interested in waiting a year for this.

There is a similar product like that in the works already. Not sure of the name.

What scares me, is the Bluetooth part, which means yet another device to recharge...

I use a very simplified card combining all my frequent flyer cards, by awardwallet, and it serves purpose (well kind of...)

Do you think this would work for a debit card in a ATM? It could be ATM's are not able to handle these cards, or have some type of security detection to detect any card other than the ones issued by the bank.

Update: just found this on the FAQ:
Q. Where can I use Coin?
A. You can use a Coin everywhere cards are accepted including dip-style card readers and ATMs. Use a Coin just like you use your cards now at gas stations, restaurants, the mall, the gym, or other places you frequent.
