Mouse button virtually 'stuck'-need help
« on: November 17, 2013, 05:39:11 PM »
every now and then I'll get where a button will act stuck. not sure if it's a Mouse button or CTRL key or something.
only affects some programs (browser, power point) not all, so it's not physically stuck)
restarting will usually solve it then a week or 2 later it will be back...

any suggestions?

Could it be that you are by mistake activating stickey keys?

laptop
Longshot, but it is easy to try.  Go to the manufacturer's website and download the newest touchpad software, if there is one.  It may be the version you have now, but regardless uninstall and reinstall.

easy to try, but won't know if it worked until problem does (or doesn't) come back.

on that note, while problem was happening, I tried turning the trackpad off (using wireless mouse) and vice versa, and it did not help

With troubleshooting, unfortunately that's how it works...try a solution...wait and see if it reoccurs.  But, if you already tried disabling the trackpad, that could probably be eliminated as a possible problem.

I would also (just to be on the safe side) disable sticky keys.

An idea:  while the problem is occurring, bring up the on screen keyboard, and see if it displays any keys being pressed.

didn't try that recently. I think I had tried that once and didn't show anything.
