Israeli went by EZ pass without paying on a rental
« on: November 18, 2013, 12:59:37 AM »
I know an Israeli that went by EZ Pass on the Garden State parkway twice this weekend on a Hertz rental. He did not have an ez pass tag. What are his best ways to avaid fees from the car rental for this? Who should he pay?  Thanks

I think his own. Im not sure if its an Israeli card or if they somehow once managed to open a Bank of America one.

IME they charge the CC that paid for the rental, but it could take several weeks for them to actually charge the card.

But is there no additional fees imposed by Hertz, for everytime you went by a toll without paying? Can you somehow pay it off directly to ez pass, before hertz gets billed and then adds the penalties?

There sure is from Hertz and the toll agency.

Try calling ez pass and let us know what happened.

Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

If he pulls out the plate pass and use it, it will just charge the plates like normal toll

Don't see any reason why an Israeli would be different. In that sense there is a thread about this. If i am not mistaken the renters cc will be charged unless you can prove you paid by other means.

If you call plate pass to pay within a few days of the violation the extra fees will be less. If you have an actual ezpass to tell them that you had they may waive the fee.
Eventually you will get charged on your credit card, but it will be more money as they charge a late payment fee..

Don't ask me how they charge a late fee of they never seems a bill... Just the way they work

depending on how much the toll is, they might not come after you. I'm speaking from experience, I jumped the garden state tolls from jersey till monsey 5-6 yrs ago and i never received anything from the state or such

Maybe your plates weren't visible.
They go after everything.

nope plates were clearly visible. Someone at the time was telling me that if the toll is less than $1 (or something like that) than it isnt worth it for them to chase after you. I forgot the exact cost that the toll was, but it was for sure on the garden state and I must have jumped around 4-5 toll booths. (There was only exact change or ez pass open and i had neither)

But they give a penalty fee, so that's why its worth it for them to bill you even for a nickle.

true. But as the person told me at the time, most of those get fought and therefore they will only end up with the amount of the toll. (Btw this is all IME, I dont know if thats how its still done)

When the hertz vehicle is equipped with plate pass they surely come after you. I got a bill for $26.75 for a $1 toll in Delaware. Got the extra fees off because I had an ez-pass, just didn't pick up that toll

thats because they charge you a fee for using their ezpass, even for days that you dont use it

That add $50 administration fee to your tolls so ...
