New Amex Benefit! Free Amazon Prime

I read through the thread but was not able to get clarity to the following 3 question.

1)Does this apply to MB Platinum?

2)Can I end my Prime membership, and then rejoin?

3)Does the Prime Account have to be in Amex cardholders name? ie can my brother use my Platinum to pay for Prime?

1) no. But my personal opinion is that if you chat with Amex, they will likely offer to credit it as a courtesy. If they do offer to do it for you, copy and paste it and keep it on file

2) Why would you do that? I believe you are able to "gift" prime membership to anyone, and you can tell Amazon to activate the gift at any date you want. I would but the prime "gift", the charge will post immediately to your account, and get the credit. Then, once your existing subscription expires, activate the gift subscription.

3) not sure, but I doubt they care who's account it is.

I hope they add free AAA membership, free Netflix, Free gym club membership, Free Costco and Sam's Club membership. (and maybe free Mikveh membership too..)

I don't expect the churning rules to change any time soon.

They have nothing to gain by repealing that rule and everything to lose

1)I mistakenly used an AU that didn't have the the $25 off @ bestbuy even though primary cardholder did. Amex twitter rep manually took off the $25.

2) My subscription expires in a few days but I think I read that it has to be for new prime accounts?? Also I have Amazon Student so may as well save $79 instead if $39. Are you sure you don't have to gift to particular person?

One thing I just noticed (and I realise I may be on the slow wagon on this one) is that they have gone back to saying "This offer is also not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any other Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card account within the last 90 day," whereas a while back they were stating 12 months for any card (not just the card you were applying for). That ought to help in churning amex cards

I bought Amazon Prime with my Mercedez Benz platinum card. They told me that they only reimburse you 6-8 weeks AFTER meeting the spending threshold. Has anyone else heard of such a thing? Also would there be a way of hurrying up the reimbursment. I need to close my card by the end of the month.

Once you've spent the required amount, call them over the phone and ask them to manually credit you.
