In another thread, some asked me to provide my costs...Bear in mind, i did not always buy the cheapest thing as sometimes it was worth an extra shekel or two to get something remotely useful.

1)Best Western transfer to US Free, IMO
2)Choice privileges transfer to US Free, IMO
3) Hilton Hhonors transfer to US Free, IMO
4) Hyatt points transfer to US Free, IMO
5) Priority club transfer to US Free, IMO
6) Radisson points transfer to US Free, IMO
7) SPG transfer to US Free, IMO
8 ) 21st century insurance quote Free, IMO
9) Ordered treif spread from biscoff ($17.85)
10) Bought 2000 miles from US (29.56)
11) Chronomed order ($36.93)
12) Dividend miles dining ($1)
13) Ordered chapstick from walmart using DM shopping mall ($2.10)
14) Ordered crappy wipes from DM wireless ($8.48)
15) e-miles transfer Free
16) Ordered flowers from FTD.com ($44.98) (not included in cheshbon as something i had to order anyway)
17) Sharebuilder trade ($5.00)
18) Lifelock for 1 month (after trial is over) ($9.00)
19) Magazines for miles (-500 miles)
20) Netflix for 1 month (after trial is over) ($8.99)
21) Opened US airways Biz card (No annual Fee, 5000 miles sign up)
22) Office max order ($15.96- ordered something i needed)
23) Sentry insurance quote Free
24) Share miles ($73.00...I did 4,000 to someone else's account to trade him for 5000 hyatt pts into mine.
25) Skymall purchase ($11.63)
26) Supershuttle no-show at DFW airport ($12.00)
27) Swap miles @ points.com Free
28) Restaurant.com coupon @ Thanks again ($3.00)
29) Track it back ($19.90)
30) Vinesse wine guide ($7.45)
31-36) Renting 6 cars this sunday for $13.81 each at hertz

Now, before everyone starts asking for detailed instructions on how to do each of them, please do your own research as i have done mine. There is a huge thread on FT discussing all these cheap hits and a little search will take you very far. This may look easy, however it did take some time. There is a spreadsheet on FT as well which is very useful in keeping track of everything...

My total outlay in the end was/ will be $462.54 of which i subtracted the flowers as i would have paid for them anyways. My total then became $417.56. Some may decide to put a value to their mileage transfers. I put them as free, because i see them as free.

He lives in Chicago.
Although I think you meant how do you do that, and weren't really asking about where he is.

For those who don't want to get too involved and would like 4000 points, simply do 4 of these (numbers are from Davids list):
6- Free with new sign up link,
7- 1 SPG point if you have access to a Plat account
8- Free, but use a fake number, as ppl have reported heavy telemarketing. Also it will take 6-8 weeks to post, so maybe go with a different one if you're only going for 4.
12- Go to the Dividend Miles Dining website, sign up a credit card, and buy a coke at a local restaurant.
13- Search for "Chap stick", not "Chapstick" (two words) or just make your next online purchase with DM mall
15- (If you have)
15a- eRewards (ditto)
19- (as low as 300 miles)
22- If you are ordering something anyway, otherwise shipping kills it if you're only doing 4
23- I don't recommend
27- u can swap 4 CO miles for 1 US on points.com, or do 53 US--> 18 Greenpoints --> 1 US
28- Explained in previous post
Also if you have a BOA Checking account, you can sign up for the debit card. $30, but you get 3k points (you have to make a purchase to get a hit and bonus points)

There you go. 13 hits. Each less than $4 (cash or value, I'm counting the Debit card fee as free against the sign up bonus)

Looks great David!
But in all fairness you really can't count the transfers as being free.  Well, you could, but I don't see them as being free.
Those Hyatt points could be used/bartered/traded with someone else for example, as could the other points.

And I think United would give you like 3,000 miles for an order of flowers of that size, so you probably need to account for at least that lost opportunity cost as well, even if you would've ordered those flowers anyway.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I didnt put exactly how because there are many ways of doing it. I searched the FT thread for "CDP" and found various hertz codes. I tried them out using different locations different days etc... Different locations came out cheaper using different codes. I used CDP 706900 and coupon code 137771 at a hertz local edition.

I think i found for like $20 using an alamo weekend code i found on the thread as well, but am obviously going with the cheaper one.

I can confirm that 21st century has heavy telemarketing. They probably called me like 5-6 times within two weeks. I just hung up as soon as it said it was from 21st century.

Not sure why you dont recommend sentry...was pretty easy. Took about 20 min on the phone for me to show the rep that my current policy beast them by several hundred a year.

Looks great David!

I dont really see them as being free, although i did earn almost all of them for free. US does indeed not diffrentiate on the name, so you could trade for other hits. I traded someone a share of 4k US which earned each of us a hit for 5k hyatt. That earned me 2 hits and him 1 hit.

For the flowers, it was something i had to order anyway. I earned 600 miles from US for that order.

I do live in a state where they work. The guy was a bit annoying. He sounded like he was working out of his house...as in he was very friendly and didnt sound like your standard agent. He emailed me to set up a time to which i replied. He replied to my email within minutes. He was willing to call me at 7 PM and sounded like he had a family in the background. He was a bit annoying to deal with but it was a free hit...
