Best Credit Card
« on: July 16, 2008, 01:32:46 PM »
Don't know about you all but I live on this site.

By now, we all know that the SPG Amex card is the best card (unless you live in a box).

I am looking for thoughts on the "next best card".

Maybe we can get Dan to do a profile on his idea of the next best card.

Next best card, or next best non-AMEX card?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I think both would help us all. Dan, keep up the awesome work. Thanks.

Your thoughts on the AMEX cards (no partnership) would be great as well. Specifically regarding Membership Rewards points.

No.
Once the points post to your SPG account they have nothing to do with amex anymore.

I'm pretty sure this info is already here scattered throughout the site, I guess you just need to know where to look for it.

Besides, I'm not sure there's 1 absolute best card. There's a best for earning rewards, best for benefits, best for churning and probably some other "bests" also.

Then again there are cards which wouldn't qualify as the "best" but could be considered a must-have.
For example the JetBlue card, for anybody that flies JetBlue a lot it's an absolute must-have.

If you have the credit card your True Blue points never expire

Without the card you can fly 4 round trips NY-CA (for example) every year for 20 years and never earn a single reward flight! (unless you get a deal such as this one where they're offering bonus points)

only the primary cardholder.
I tried once a couple of years back with a different (not the primary cardholder's) account and it did not work.
I just tried again recently, I'm still waiting to see how it works out.
