Srap- I hope you figure it out and get your data back! The irony in you trying to keep it safe from big brother is that you might have lost it!

I agree with you about the whole no-such-thing-as-privacy-anymore sentiment, but the truth is its a lost cause. I just grin and embrace it as the new reality. If you use Google to search, shop online, have email, use a credit card, heck even a regular feature phone at all, big brother has been snooping on you. Saying you don't want to use a Smartphone because you want to keep your privacy is like closing the door to your house after the walls have already been taken down by a wrecking ball. They can still see everything if they want. Its a losing fight.

In other news, my wife has really enjoyed her little pink Centro for the last couple of months since I picked it up for her (the reason I started this thread). But now that she's got the smartphone bug, she wants to know what else she can do. Just activated her first Android handset today (*sniff* they grow up so fast!). :)

Two points, Mordy.  Just the same, it doesn't feel right to just hand over all my contacts and thier/my private info connected to them, as well as my daily activities for the last 15 years directly into the cell phone company's hands.

Someone suggested keeping all my info on an android tablet and just keeping it in airplane mode.  I really only need it for my contacts and calendar, though, which again is only an old fashioned no glamour palm.  Any suggestions which one?

Pick up a cheap used one on ebay, I got one for my daughter to use as a music player cheap because it was marked "bad ESN", which means it is blacklisted with the carrier (someone reported it lost or didn't pay their bill, etc). Since I never intend to hook it up to anyway, it was perfect.

IMO, the best physically built was the 700wx...I'm still using mine.  Plus it is Windows.  You could put M$ Business Contact Manager on it (M$ version of Act!).

Define decent price, and carrier.

I bought the one for my wife in perfect working condition for $15 on ebay. You can find sellers clearing out bulk inventory from liquidators, good products and extremely reasonable.
