Marriott Advice
« on: November 26, 2013, 01:25:27 AM »
Hey all,

I want to stay in the Marriott Marquis Time Square. It costs 45,000 Marriott points. What's the easiest/least annoying way to get a free night there? Sign up for Marriott card and just use the 50,000 points toward that (and have another level 1-4 free night to play with), or signing up for a different card and transferring points (e.g. Southwest, Ink, etc.)?

Thanks.

Interested in hearing what people have to say. I have a wedding coming up at a category 7 so that cat 1-4 strategy wouldn't even work for me, plus I don't think it's worth it to get the 70K Marriott CC offer. I was hoping there might be a better way to get the room at a discounted rate. The rate at the hotel is over $350 a night.

I've stayed at the Springhill Suites recently. Was newish and a good use of the free night cert IMO. The room was not a true suite but had that funny half-wall between the beds and the couch. Very close to the airport.

I used mine at one in Tarrytown. Was nice and had the free breakfast.

Can anyone give advice on when it's actually worthwhile to use marriot rewards points vs transferring them out. I am staying at jw marriot in San Antonio and they want 30k per night, cat 7 hotel. Any thoughts?

If anybody can give advice on getting status and what's the best way to accumulate stays/ points quickly that would be greatly appreciated.
