Not sure which thread to post in. Planning a vacation first weekend of feb...jan 30 to feb 3 from NYC to Miami area. I want to use my rewards to cover trip expenses for husband, wife and baby. We currently have 50,000 chase freedom miles, $250 in cash back and $400 in travel from blue sky American Express.
Is it more worthwhile to book flight or hotel (just one-two nights) withies and which to use the blue sky rewards?

IMO, the starting point is to see how much the trip would cost in cash, versus how much with points.  Then figure the vpp.  I can't look up those dates right now, what prices are you getting?
Do you have a SP or INK card too?

Cheapest ticket is about $170-does that mean miles are more worthwhile? How do I book hotel with my miles-on chase it seems a decent hotel is close to 20000 for the one night, is that worth it? Thanks for your help!!!! Much appreciated!

If you have SP or Ink, you can transfer to BA and get flights on points cheap.

Using British Airway miles will be 15k PP RT. Cheaper than paying.

+1 If you are going with the vpp of BA.  But really he has Chase.  If we assume vpp of 1.6, that is $240 for 15k.  Plus it is a revenue ticket and will earn mileage.  Please CMIIW.

I think they were saying it was $220 per person. So BA would still be cheaper i believe.

Revenue ticket is $220 PP RT.
BA is 15k PP RT.
If he had BA miles, no brainer. (15k x 1.1 cpp = $165)
But since we are dealing with UR, the math is 15k x 1.6 cpp, which is $240.
What am I missing?

Cool! Thanks for your help! How long in advance do I need to switch miles and book my tickets? Also, is it likely that jet blue, as or others will have big sales for tickets then? Thanks for your help
