$30 - All Inclusive in Puerto Plata, DR
« on: December 02, 2013, 10:48:21 AM »
I saw this, this morning. I don't know anything about the resort, but $30 a day for 2 people for most of the year. Also not sure about the Kosher standards. Could be a very solid deal, even if the hotel isn't 5*

OK Kosher Certification and Dining
The Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort has been honored with the distinction of receiving the prestigious OK Kosher Certification, one of the most respected global symbols of kosher approval in an era of soaring demand for kosher food. Lifestyle's year-round kosher vacation experience features a full kosher kitchen with kosher chef in residence, a kosher restaurant with a buffet and an a la carte menu, an orthodox synagogue, rabbinical services, and a kosher villa environment planned. Under the leadership of Rabbi Don Yoel Levy and his father, Rabbi Berel Levy, consumers have come to equate the OK symbol with elite kosher standards since 1935. Operating on six continents and supported by more than 350 of the world's leading kosher experts, OK Kosher certifies more than 500,000 products, produced by over 2,500 companies, and a select few resort properties. The Kosher plan is available for an additional cost.

I stayed here a couple of years ago. Paid $20.10 pp/night all inclusive. Only things we were able to eat were fruits and vegetables and drinks. This was before they had kosher option but from what I looked at recently the kosher option was expensive.

Well worth it for the money and I would recommend but my wife was not such a fan of the accommodations. I will write a TR on it when I get a chance.

So I called Cheap Caribbean. The Kosher Program is included in the $30 per night rate. The restaurant that is Kosher is Blue Lagoon based on my conversation with the rep at Cheap Caribbean.

More info: http://www.lhvcresorts.com/restaurants-bars/
Kosher Program: http://www.lhvcresorts.com/kosher/

Also: FWIW, this ends tonight at Midnight EST

Anyone find dates that are actually $30 a night?

ETA: Found. Seems like it is from May through December with a four night stay.

I would call the hotel to confirm. Cousin of mine did this package last year and kosher was supposed to have been included. luckily he called to confirm before he flew down and was told that it was not so he was able to bring food

Not a scam. I went there thinking the same thing but its a real place. The only thing that they will try to do is get you to go on some VIP tour to make sure you know all the resort benefits... It is actually a timeshare sales presentation. They will stalk you until you go on it but I am pretty sure you are under no obligation to do it so you can just tell them to get lost.

When you book the trip make sure to add the hotel transportation from the airport.

Is there really a Caribbean all inclusive resort with Kosher Food and minyanim!!!! Why are more people not talking about it? Especially since there are direct flights to POP from JFK with Jet Blue and from EWR with UA.

I was surprised there was less interest. Unfortunately, the $30 price tag was only available on Cyber Monday. YMMV on prices throughout the rest of the year, although from some threads I have read about this place, they do offer this deal 2 or 3 times a year...

The price I got for 5 nights with 2 children during prime mid winter vacation season was $660 which is still very cheap. If it actually includes the kosher restaurant, unlimited drinks.... and the place is half decent it's a steal! I'm surprised more people don't know about it which makes me believe there is something I am missing.

Why would kosher be included without an upcharge?

The OP reported that cheaocaribbean.com said it was included. Also, it is listed as one of the restaurants on premises and I read a review on Tripadvisor that a non jewish guest decided to have breakfast at the kosher restaurant.

I would love to hear from people if this is actually the case or not?
