i know what u meant :-) and like i heard a rabbi say last wek (joke) ppl say not to sleep on RH bec they'll have a sleepy yr, what happens if i am an insomniac and have trouble sleeping ...lol...

The mishan berura mentions the minhag IIRC.

Some are makpid to wake up before neitz for this reason.

Is the Nusach Ari davening much shorter or is there something I'm missing? What can you do for 8-9 hours exactly?

Nothing to do with that. It's got to do with how looooong the chazzan strecheeeees and shleppppppppppppppppppppes out the words!!!!

1st day 8:30 - 1:15 (including 15 minute drosho) Tekios at 11:20
2nd day 8:30 - 1:10 (including 20 minute drosho) Tekios at 10:55 Chazzon of second day musaf enjoyed the omud a bit too much!

they also say that if you are not going to be learning/davening and are just wasting time than it is no better than sleeping and could be worse bec good chance you will do something you shouldnt, like speak L"H. and if sleeping will help you daven than you def better to sleep
