I read the book Delivering Happiness written by Zappos' CEO (its all about how they got to where they are today) and it said that sometimes they suprise customers with overnight shipping, so when I bought shoes on zappos I chatted with a CSR and said that I read the book and I really enjoyed it and I was wondering if I can get the free overnight shipping suprise. they said sure,  and gave me VIP, just for asking.

When I ordered from Zappos I ordered it in middle of the night and got it 1 and a half days later no vip.

I ordered something for the first time ever on Zappos (yeah, yeah....) and I called to get free next-day shipping as a courtesy for a first-time buyer (for real, not my 50th account AFAIR) and first she said no, we don't do it. It's $25 and a few seconds later said, I'll upgrade you to VIP and you'll have it tomorrow. Never heard of it.
She ended the call with "Moishe, Happy Chanukah (with a Ches)".... Lol

Is it this easy to get VIP or I lucked out?

No idea what Zappos VIP is, but I've ordered stuff at 9pm and had them the next morning without calling.
