I would assume anything that didn't have chametz in it would be treated the same as any other company but that's just my assumption, I could be wrong.

Unless they're reusing barrels, why would their rum and tequila have chametz in them?

So then what could be the issue with them?

I doubt that it's any different than any rum or tequila.

Does anyone know the issue with Allagash beer? I used to see it on tap at kosher places but now it's popping up on non-approved lists.

theres a lot of inconsistency with hefeweizens it seems. shock top is "not recommended" by many yet i see it sold in certain supermarkets and Graze has a shock top jerky flavor.

Seeing something sold in a kosher supermarket should not be an indication of it's kashrus when it comes to alcohol.

Unless the store has its own Hashgocha, seeing something sold in a kosher supermarket should not be an indication of it's kashrus when it comes to anything.

Regardless of where a store is, it’s not only selling to you and your standards. What one Jew considers Kosher might be Chas Ve’sholom to another.

That is true but I was purely referring to alcohol across the board, I didn't want to bring up general kashrus.

+1000000000

I have seen Lakewood stores selling items which were plain rabanut even on pesach. The clientele who would knowingly buy that is miniscule there.

A restaurant having something is more telling, and Graze is a restaurant.

There is so much confusion with alcohol in general.

When a list says 'not recommended' they should explain the reason why, so ppl can make a decison for themselves (ex. Sherry cask).
Imho, when they write 'not recommended' on bottles like glenlivet 18 or glenfiddich 12, 15, 18 etc, w/o reasoning when most ppl drink these, it cheapens the whole list and ppl disregard it.

There's also so many vague terms like "Acceptable", "Recommended", "Not Recommended", and then some missing from lists entirely.

At the end of the day, I think there can really be only 3 reasons alcohol could ever be bad:

- Chametz SheAvar Alav HaPesach (rare for many things at point of manufacturer)
- Kosher sensitive ingredients, such as grape products
- Potential cross-contamination with non-kosher ingredients

Really hard to figure out how those categories match to actual issues.
