The issue is in the aging stage,  when it's in the manufacturer's barrels for a number of years,  by default encompassing pesach.  Definitely a Jew and definitely doesn't sell his chametz. I believe that the metzias is very clear.
Your point is true for other foodstuffs sold by Jewish distribution companies.

umm how do we know its amazing?
and i gave up on mine :-[

Prob cuz he's tried it.  Most liquors whiskeys etc aren't necessarily black and white trief.. what one guy drinks the next guy might not.
Also many drinks aren't on our lists here in the US but are found on other reputable lists in other countries.

It's not hence why the star k is meikel. Aging in bourbon is nothing compared to scotch and FWIU it gets moved multiple times during the aging process plus they don't age it themselves rather they outsource it

Is there any kashrus organization that still disallows Scotches that were aged in Sherry Casks?

From what I saw at the multiple bourbon distilleries I've visited I think your wrong. They make it a point to do it themselves.

CRC discourages and doesn't allow at their events. It's worthwhile reading Rabbi Niehaus's book or hearing his presentation on why there is a significant makom lehachmir, it's quite compelling.

Star K is not meikel - from their website:

Bourbon, Rye, Tennessee and all American Whiskeys- Unflavored
view list
Certification status: Acceptable WITHOUT Certification
Excluding : SOME varieties that are not recommended due to Chametz She'avar Alav Ha'Pesach issues or aging in Wine Casks, mentioned on label.

Major distilleries all have their own aging warehouses, in fact in this article Buffalo Trace is used as an example. Good Bourbon is usually 5 or more years old. Only new upstarts, who don't have their own aged stock will outsource, or store brands and the like.

i was at the buffalo trace distillery and they do not outsource the entire process is done by them

There are other companies that use their distillery and the question can arise if they ( being the buffalo trace distillery, supposedly owned by a Jew) ever really owned it

Pappy van winkle is an example of another company that has buffalo trace make their bourbon

I think Pappy Van Winkle and Buffalo Trace (and a bunch of others) are all owned by Sazerac, not 100% sure

during the buffalo trace tour I was told that pappy was not owned by the distillery
Could be the same owner owns the distillery and also owns pappy but it didn't sound like that to me

The Pesach issue with pappy comes from the fact that the distillery makes another label called W L Weller which is the same exact thing as pappy.  What happens for example is that they make 100 barrels of that recipe mash and put it in barrels after a couple of years pappy comes down tastes the barrels and decides which 50 they want which only then get marked as pappy bottles. The remaining barrels become W L weller

anyone here have a recommendation, Glenfiddich 14 or 15? 14 yr costs about $10 more than 15yr bc its got a hechsher on it since its a bourban cask while 15 is sherry cask.
Haven't had a chance to taste the 14 yet but I'm hearing raving reviews about it.
Finally had a chance to taste it, was absolutely delicious. Opened and closed the bottle Friday night it's definitely up there on my list of favorites.
