The CRC, for example, is happy to explain themselves, C and are very well researched. They have different classifications within sherry casks, and are ok with some, not others. (depends on how much final product was in said casks and other factors).
They have no responsibility to explain why they recommend or not recommend, and sometimes they don't have all the facts but also don't know that it's not good either (c.f. some Starbucks products). But if you ask them they're happy to explain.

I think it has to do with finishing. Glenfiddich often finishes in sherry cask thereby adding sherry flavor to the whisky. I think the kashrus agencies generally agree that when sherry is added for flavor they dont recommend it. when its added for color they are usually fine with it.

So far, Wine on the 9 doesn't have it yet, they're planning on waiting a week after they get it to price it...

(Is the winter storm, not kosher and thus didn't hear anything about?)

stillhouse original moonshine (american corn whisky) stillhouse.com in the $25 range
or
platte valley corn whisky - (unique ceramic jug) in the $30 range.

I am thinking of gifting some to some of my co-workers for the holiday season.
