7:00ish: Leave to airport. If the three of us are all from Brooklyn it probably makes sense to carpool.

I live in LI so I guess I am on my own for this one. I am also planning on going home on the 7:50am flight since I need to be at work on Monday.

- Are we renting a car? Dan offered to drive us around Cuyahoga, but maybe we should rent something for to/from CLE, shul, food, etc. I have res. with Hertz for $38 (2 days, final cost), and National for $73 (this will get me another free day through 1 2 free, so it may be worth it for me). Should I keep it, or could anyone get a better rate? Or do we not need a car at all?
- What are we doing about a hotel? Alpicone I see booked the Sheraton at the airport - @ whYME did you book anything yet? Or are we sharing a room/rooms?

Whaddya all think?

Seems like car rentals are cheap enough that we should rent one since CLE is out of the way and then meet up with the CLE crew before heading out to Cuyahoga .

Rooms at the Sheraton are cheap enough that we should each get our own room.

In case I ever get any doubts about investing in my new camera and taking this trip, all I need to do is compare my picture below with this one from Fishy's Flickr.

Hey, cool!

Although FWIW this is one of my least favorite pictures. Horrible light, meh composition... it was one of my first 'real' picture, and it shows :P.

I think that makes my point even stronger.
Even with all that it's still immeasurably better than mine.

Reminder to everyone - please let me know ASAP if you're still missing anything (filters, remote, tripod, batteries, etc.). I may be able to bring them along, but there's not much time left  for me to get them.

I still need to borrow a camera from Best Buy... Still not so comfortable with it but my P&S doesn't seem to have much flexibility other than ISO.

Sounds good, but please let me know as soon as you could. Some things might take a couple of days to get, and it's New Year's on Wednesday which means we lose a day.

This thread has been tempting me all along, as it combines my 2 favorite hobbies,  ddf and photography.
Note: I prefer a wired remote over wireless. With wireless you need to aim it and be infront of the camera, + you need to listen out for the shutter  to know it worked. With wired, ur camera can be in any position, and are much more reliable. Either way they are a few dollars each online, so might as well go for 1 of each.
Also, if your phone has built in ir (eg: s4 and htc one do) you can get a remote app.

And that is precisely why you should get a radio remote, not an IR one. :D

-Have all the required stuff posted before.
-Just have a wide angle and telephoto lens.
-Don't have filters or remote trigger.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

I picked up a T5i at Costco. Came with two lenses and an extra battery.

Would you be able to bring along a tripod and a remote that is compatible?

TIA

Sweet!

Yep, I'll bring the stuff. We should probably meet up before security, as they probably won't allow me to bring more than one tripod aboard.

I'll bring your filters.

As far as a remote, your camera only takes IR. I'll bring along something I built (for my own NEX) which allows me to control an IR remote with a standard wired or wireless remote. However, since IR requires line-of-sight, you should also look into using the camera's wi-fi as a remote. See here for some more details - this may work out better for you.
