I've never seen anything like that before.  It makes it look like a thick blanket.  Amazing illusion.

now we see why they needed their tripods.

The stationary items (rocks and branches) are sharp and clear. The water is moving so it's captured as "thick" and smooth.
      (Slower aperture, so it's not showing the sharp ripples/splashes, right?)

Thanks all. It was great meeting everyone, we all had a great time.

If you click on the pictures you could see them in high resolution, along with all the info - exposure, location, etc. As you've noted, the waterfall was taken with a very slow shutter speed (30 seconds), which caused the water to blur while everything else remained sharp.

Nice! I especially like the close up, I didn't have a chance to try that angle.

BTW regarding the first picture, it all comes down to what we discussed about compression. Both our pictures were taken from the exact same spot, yet they look completely different. That's the difference between my 14mm and your 29mm...
