Lease question: Town and country vs Odyssey
« on: December 07, 2013, 07:05:30 PM »
Town and country: fully loaded, leather seats etc - $269

Odyssey LX, basic model: $309

Is it better to stick with Honda and forego the bells and whistles of the Town and Country?

If its a lease why do you care about the better life expectancy/resale value of the Honda.

Why is honda better to you?

I've leased both. The Odyssey is a better car but I stuck with the T&C to save money.  With the price difference being minimal, I would stick with the Odyssey.

I don't care about the resale value, I just don't want trouble during the 3 years of my lease. I've heard stories of people running to their dealer every few weeks just two years into their lease to have things fixed.

$40 more per month = $1440 over 36 months. The difference is not that minimal...

What is your feedback on the T&C?

Is it that important? For $40 a month i'm thinking I can just go around and close the door myself...

Same amount of miles?
AFAIL T and C (not terms and conditions, but Town and Country) leases have 7.5 k miles...

But more importantly, does your wife want to close doors herself... (I'm assuming wife being that you're getting a minivan...)

not the best comparison since the 269 has power doors(paying 40 more to close it yourself) .how much does the Odyssey ex lease for? Personally I would get the TC if I knew i wouldn't be buying it afterwards

Why do you have to ask her?

I have the T&C 2013 for a year now, and pay 239 a month except an oil change never went to a mechanic, and it drives great.
I like the fact its fully loaded power doors leather, dvd player.

The other great thing is that the middle seats fold right into the floor, no heavy lifting or storage needed for the seats when you take them out like in the Odyssey or Sienna.

How come the Ody's doesn't fold into the floor? It must be they needed a place for the spare tire. Where is the T&C's spare?

Being a little more descriptive may help someone make a decision

no power, bad handling, drives like a truck. Oh sure they have bells and whistles but are the bells and whistles  any good. Ime they were terrible... And the only way they market themselves is with bells and whistles because they have to cover for how bad the car is.

Also depends on your needs. I'm pretty sure that the Town and Country only has 7 seats while the Odyssey has 8. For me that was important since my wife does carpool and sometimes needs the 8th seat.
