Things have been much better than expected IMHO. We should appreciate that Dan takes time from his (well deserved) vacation to keep things in check.
Oh. I forgot that you were Dan's policeman here while he was gone, on a number of occasions.
Yes it's true that I also agree that things have been better than expected, and I truly appreciate it. But nevertheless, since you have been doing such a good job, I wish he would've designated you or whoever to have had access to the main site to post deals, as well as to check and post the comments that people post on the main site as they come in, and not many hours later when Dan gets internet access.
Just to give an example: Lets say the Expedia crazy offer from a month ago came up today, and lets just say that after a couple of hours, Dan actually gets word of it and posts it on the main site like he did then. Now, on a normal basis, the main site gets flooded with comments, (actually it was hundreds last time), and many of them are quite helpful in giving others ideas what to do. Those comments are generally updated by the minute as they come in, and people have the opportunity to read them and still have time to chap arein with the offer before it's pulled. Now picture that if it happened today, where even if Dan had access to post the deal, we still wouldn't have the updated comments on a hour by hour basis, since he probably wouldn't want to waste a whole day on vacation sifting through comments as they come in, nor should he while he's on vacation with his wife. And as experience shows, the comments on the forums are far less than on the main site, and basically people would be submitting comments on the main site, but it wouldn't be posting for 8 hours, when the deal could possibly be over or out of dates.
Therefore im suggesting, that since this site has grown tremendously since I first signed up here, that Dan should seriously consider taking my advise, and possibly finding someone to have administrative powers while he's away for long stretches.
Am I taking this well out of proportion, or do some of you somewhat agree with me?
